The Project

RES4CITY’s overarching goal is to enhance the development of sustainable renewables and fuel technologies in cities by promoting sustainability and circularity, and by deploying an innovative educational programme, co-designed with stakeholders, to develop highly skilled human capital, to allow for results with high replicability across different educational systems.

With a consortium of 18 partners in 8 EU countries and Switzerland, RES4CITY’s aim is to develop an innovative framework to support the mass deployment of renewable energy systems and fill the educational gap for the creation of specialised human capital, who contribute to the green transition. RES4CITY recognises that particular attention needs to be paid to urban areas since most of the EU population is concentrated in cities where the consumption of resources (i.e., energy, water, land, etc.) has been steadily increasing.

Five Pillars

RES4CITY’s five project pillars

Innovation and Stakeholder Network

Deploying a pan-European community of public and private organisations around energy transition, circular economy, sustainability, and the use of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and Fuel Technologies (FT).

Supporting the community in promoting capacity-building in deployment and strategising the application of innovative green technologies at the city level.

Lighthouse Case Studies

Selected case studies linked to a specific energy related urban challenge. Each of the case studies cover a different perspective of innovation and technology – such as environmental sustainability, social equality, acceptance and diffusion.

Educational Framework

Microcredentials for the training and reskilling of students and members of the public, including social and environmental aspects of RES and FT – using a MOOC platform, self-assessment tools and serious games.

Industry-Academia Partnership

Co-design of an industry-academia led innovative educational programme and the promotion of new knowledge and concrete actions.

Exploitation, Dissemination & Outreach

Increase awareness around the RES4CITY collaborative framework, learning programs and tools, in order to foster the exploitation and replication of the project approach.
